The NCS Athletics field events for years 3-6 were held on Friday 23 June here at school.
Students took part in four field events; discus, shot put, high jump and long jump. Both Black Hawks and Sea Kings houses were well represented as they went head to head once again.
There was lots of fun and great team spirit shown throughout with students clapping and cheering one another (particularly at the high jump) as everyone gave their best efforts.
There was football and speedminton to play for early finishers too, which was great in the early afternoon Winter sunshine. It's impossible to pick out individual performances, but a few highlights at High Jump were:
Ollie E jumping 1.44 m which is thought to be a new school record for 12 year boys (just consulting the official statistics).
Jacob F finishing first in high jump, long jump, discus and second in shot put for his 11 year boys.
Jayla B winning discus, long jump and shot put for 12 year girls (also unofficial records of 3.82 in long jump and 17.80 m in discus)
Tane M won both discus and shot put for 12 year boys (possible record there too of 20.94 m in discus).
Alexis W-J won high jump and shot put, then came second in discus and long jump for 11 year girls.
Emily M won discus and came second in long jump, high jump and discus for 8-10 year girls.
Hamish M came second in shot put, third in discus and fourth in high jump for 8-10 year boys.
Extra special thanks to our parent helpers on the day, Doonan McLaren and Alissa Beresford. They are now experts in the areas of measuring discus throws, long jumps and raking sand! We really appreciated your time and efforts given to help the day run smoothly.
