On Wednesday 13 November, NCS began their campaign in their very first run at the Wiburd Shield. This is a state-wide cricket competition for students in Years 7-9, where schools from all over NSW are battling to be called Wiburd Shield champions.
The first team we played was NAC who, after electing to bat, were all out for 137, just short of their 40 overs. Matt Mc started with the ball, taking 3 for 21 and was at one point on a hat trick. Noah T, Jack L, Matt S, Micah E, Rohan B and Ollie E all shared the wickets with some great bowling. Darien M and Eddie R took some great catches, whilst Isaac C and Robert v P provided great support in the field.
With the total to chase, the boys were a little nervous, but this didn't seem to bother them. Only three batsmen were needed, Rohan B and Micah E both scored 13, both doing a great job to support Ollie E, who scored the very first century (100 runs) for the school. With only 2 runs required to win, Ollie hit a 6 in order to get his century.
The boys will now play Shellharbour Anglican College in the second round on Tuesday 26 November.
