NCS Chromebook Program launches in 2025

We are excited to announce that all Year 7 students in 2025 will be issued a Chromebook for educational use at school and home. The Chromebooks will be treated like a textbook and students will be issued devices at the start of the year for use from Year 7 to Year 9. This replaces the old 'Bring Your Own Device (BYOD)' program we have run in previous years. The BYOD program will only continue for Years 8-12 in 2025 and be gradually phased out.

Our school is committed to preparing students for success both at school and beyond. Part of this includes ensuring students are exposed to technology and taught how to use it appropriately. This will form a part of their digital citizenship by encouraging safe digital practices and building character that reflects our Christian values as a school.

We anticipate that through these school-provided devices, there will be improved consistency of experience for both teachers and students and will allow a single device across all students in classrooms which ensures digital equity and equality.

The Chromebook package provided to Year 7 students will be covered by a $250 per year device levy to be paid over 3 years. This amount will be added to school fees and paid through your normal school fees payment arrangement. There will be the option to buyout the device at the end of the three years for a small fee. The model of the Chromebook and any accessories will be determined by the school.

This program will be fully integrated for Year 7, 2025 and therefore there will not be an option for Year 7 students to bring their own devices to school

Please read the online NCS Chromebook Program Policy for further information. If you have any questions please email the office@ncs.nsw.edu.au.
