Primary Girls Netball Team Secures Impressive 2024 State Runner-Up Title

Recently our Year 5 and 6 girls netball team went to Penrith to represent NCS and the South Coast Zone at the State Netball Gala Day. The girls played a phenomenal day of netball, winning all 5 of their pool round matches. They scored a massive 68 goals across those 5 games and only had 14 goals scored against them.

After being down 4:1 at half time in the quarter final, the girls rallied together and came out with a 3 goal win, to progress onto a very closely contented semi-final. With a draw at the end of full time, they then went on to play two lots of extra time, and came away with a semi-final win by 1 goal.

After a massive 8 games of netball, a chant that got louder with every game, lots of red frogs and sugar for energy, and huge amounts of cheering from family and friends, the girls came 2nd overall. They were awarded the title of 2024 State Runner’s Up, our best ever achievement in primary school netball.

Not only did the girls play superb netball on the day, but they demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship. They encouraged and supported each other, they never gave up, even when they were losing, and they played kindly and fairly all day. On multiple occasions we had players from the opposition comment to us that they enjoyed playing against our team and that our players were nice to play against.

Congratulations girls! We are super proud of your achievements, but even prouder of the character you showed on the day and the way you represented our school and demonstrated your faith through the way you played the game of netball.
